Decathlon USA 

During my two-semester tenure as a Visual and Marketing Design Intern at Decathlon USA, from September 2017 to May 2018, I had the invaluable opportunity to contribute to the company's outreach efforts and promote the grand opening of the Decathlon store in San Francisco. In my role within the Marketing department, specifically focusing on Communications, I assumed full responsibility for all visual design requirements, as I was the sole designer on the team.

Throughout my internship, I undertook a diverse range of projects, including the creation of newsletters, coupons, infographics, social media assets (such as a Snapchat geofilter for the grand opening), company introduction presentations, press kits, and various other deliverables. These designs were instrumental in effectively engaging with customers and generating awareness about the Decathlon brand and its new store.

By being the primary designer within the Marketing team, I gained valuable hands-on experience and developed a comprehensive skill set. This internship enabled me to refine my design capabilities, adapt to the unique demands of a dynamic marketing environment, and contribute to the overall success of Decathlon's marketing and communication strategies.

 

Marketing Email design

This project is one of the first projects that was assigned to me when I first started working at Decathlon USA. The main goal for this project was to widely spread the news of Decathlon’s official debut in the United States in addition to also advertising their products. My main responsibility was to deliver design templates that I created for this project to a developer employee located in France. More specifically, this was a responsive web design in which I created different versions for desktop, tablet, and mobile.

 
 

Flyers

The purpose of these flyers was to inform and introduce products of Decathlon to our customers. I created illustration designs while working together with the Content Manager to produce engaging materials. These flyers were specifically given to customers who purchased our products online.

 

Social Media

Social media is a huge part of gathering customers in today’s society. Social media is a huge part of communicating and gathering customers in today’s society. I created many attractive designs for Decathlon USA’s Facebook and Instagram platforms such as this informational poster.

 

Stickers

Stickers were designed according to special days or occasions such as Earth Day or Decathlon USA’s Grand Opening. These stickers that I designed were used as giveaways at public events and by doing so, the Marketing Team hoped that the stickers would help advertise Decathlon’s name throughout America.

 

My reflection

My internship at Decathlon USA served as a significant milestone in my career journey, marking my initial foray into the professional world. I am immensely thankful for the opportunity to work with such a renowned and thriving company. The individuals at Decathlon USA were undoubtedly one of the highlights of my experience, providing unwavering support and fostering a sense of camaraderie both within the workplace and beyond.

Participating in Decathlon's official entry into the American market was an unforgettable experience, contributing to a profound sense of gratitude and fulfillment. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have played a role in this significant milestone for Decathlon, and the memories created during this time will forever hold a special place in my heart.
